Biography

Barr. Kingsley Essien got admitted into Birch Freeman High School, Surulere in 1971. He was a very brilliant and active student who took part in sports, Literary and Debating activities. He was a member of the school football team and was nicknamed world 7 due to his dexterity in playing football from the outside right wing.

 Barr. Kingsley Essien graduated from Birch Freeman High School in 1975. He did his Higher School at the College of Technology, Calabar, and (School of Basic Studies). In 1978, he was admitted into the prestigious University of Lagos to study Law. He graduated in 1982 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School where he was called to the Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in1983.

Barr Kingsley Essien is a very senior member of the Bar and has practiced Law extensively throughout all the Courts and Tribunals of the Land. Barr. Kingsley Essien got involved in BIFOBA affairs in the late 1990s. In 2005, he caused BIFOBA to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a corporate body with a certificate of incorporation. He, along with Dr. Olajide Idowu, Mr. Francis Van-Lare and Mr. Feyisola Dinyo are the Registered Trustees of Birch Freeman High School Old Boys Association.

Barr. Kingsley Essien has been a very active member of BIFOBA. He was the 2nd Vice President in charge of government affairs for many years, 1st Vice President in charge of the school for four years, he was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee and two-time Chairman of the constitution amendment committee.

 Barr. Kingsley Essien is a member of the prestigious BIFOBA Guild of Awardees and has continued to show exceptional commitment to the ideals of BIFOBA.

 Barr. Kingsley Essien is currently the Global President of BIFOBA. He was sworn in on the 30th of April 2016, within his tenure as the Global President, Barr Kingsley Essien has displayed exceptional leadership qualities and has continued to put in his time, talent and treasure in running the affairs of BIFOBA.

 Barr Kingsley Essien is currently the Principal Partner/ Co-founder and Head of Practice of Essien & Essien Chambers, Legal Practitioners and Notaries Public.

 Barr. Kingsley Essien is a very warm and amiable gentleman. He is happily married and blessed with three children. He loves reading, writing and watching football. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and many other Organizations including the Lions Club International.
